Why Do We Constantly Mess Up

Doing It Wrong

Right off the to let me state clearly that I offer no insights that have not already been offered from the beginning.

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be;
and that which is done is that which shall be done:
and there is no new thing under the sun.”

I merely repeat what has been said and taught countless times by those who came before. The Wise Ones of the past, our ancestors who took the time and made the effort to hear and learn from Lady Wisdom are the ones who I go to. Lady Wisdom, Muhammad,  Luther, Jesus, Micah, Buddha, Krishna to name but a few are the ones I study.

What they show me I attempt to pass on. One thing they keep on trying to impress upon me is the need for a change of heart within humanity. This is certainly nothing new.  Humanity has been messing things up from time immemorial. It only took four short chapters of Genesis for humanity to start sinning. Most of us haven’t stopped yet. We seem to understand the need for change but we don’t seem to be able to change.

I think the problem is that we are just too darn lazy. To not screw things up takes a lot of effort. First we have to learn how to control ourselves. (take a good slow read of Genesis 4) Next we have to learn how to not be envious or in the words of the Buddha we have to develop proper desire.

In short we need to learn how to control our thoughts, words and deeds. That hasn’t happened since we climbed down out of the trees. Until it does we will just keep on messing things up.
