Hi Luv et alii,
|If things work out we will have a small flock of turkeys|
Gertrude has laid her first eggs. One was in the nest the other the other was out in the open. We ate the one that was out of the nest. Very tasty!
We are newbies at Turkey raising so we are reading a lot and wondering even more. Seems that we should candle them weekly and hope for the fertilized ones to hatch in about 25 days.
Turkeys only lay in season. Which means we will not have year round eggs. But we may have up to 100 eggs lain so this could be the start of our meat production.
Time will tell and we’ll keep you up to date.
Take care, stay alert,
The Old Man
